Riley is still adjusting to her chest being closed now, with her blood pressure and pulmonary pressures fluctuating just a bit. Overall she is pretty stable. The doctors did an echo-cardiogram of her heart and said everything looks very good. Last night they had to add another IV because she lost her cathater line. With much a bit of a struggle they finally got a new IV in her hand!
Today Riley was very awake. She is still sedated, but can mover her arms and legs and open her eyes. She actually cried today (minus real tears) and this was very sad for me! Doctors say all of this movement, including the crying, is a good indication of neurological function. Her eyes are tracking, which also is shows positive brain activity.
Please pray for Marihya and Nolan. These are two VERY sick children in Riley's room, who are both on Heart/Lung Bypass machines. Riley was only 5 minutes away from being placed on the heart/lung bypass machine herself on Saturday. We feel very blessed she was able to stay stable and not have to endure the risks of that whole process.

Yay Riley!!!! We're excited to read more good news. There are lots of prayers going up for you from the Jackson home... even my first graders at LCS have joined in. Every morning they want to know the latest on Baby Riley. We're continuing to pray for God's healing on Riley, along with strength for you, Eric and Jenny. Nothing is too hard for Him. He knows her inside and out. He is in charge. Stay in HIS grip!

ReplyDeleteI just found out she was born yesterday. Then I was directed to your blog. It reads like a triumphant emotional roller coaster. It's a lot to take in all in one sitting...I have the tisues close...and needed them. I am sooo happy for you and cannot believe your wonderful fortune and grace of God you have experienced. You are truely great parents and I am greatful God has blessed you with more kids!!! I will hold your red head in my heart and pray for her speedy recovery. You are a mighty woman Jenny...never under estimate yourself...

Jenny, I just found this thru your FB post and wow, I am sitting here at work crying for joy over Riley's recovery! God is simply amazing at the way he works and answers the prayers that are lifted up to him. We are praying for Riley but also for you and Eric that God will sustain you while you are there with Riley but also when you are away. God has his hand on your entire family and will watch over you and the kids!

Word to the believers! Our church community and the rest of The Jersey Pray-ers are exhaulting in His grace! Prayers are focused on Riley, of course, but are going up for you and Eric, too. A woman from my church who's son went through something similar to Riley reminded me that when these precious newborns go through this, they don't yet 'experience' physical pain, but their parents do! She also shared that her son is the most 'level' of her three, and she attributes this to what he's had to go through (he's 17 now and was treated at Children's Hospital in Philly, but she had a ton of great things to say about U of M-teaching hospital slant). You and Eric are named daily in so many people's prayers, we're losing count out here on the east coast! As we've said, Jen, this is all just part of your journey. Find peace in your faith and draw strength from Him. God is good, man!
